Re: Problems installing python pip on iot-dev image

Hi there, I created the original post,

I did manage to get pip installed but in the end I moved over to the Debian distribution, as any of the packages I installed on the Galileo failed with SSL certification errors.

From the error - my guess is you're not installing from the correct directory.

Here's what I did:

  • Plug SD card into my laptop.
  • Download library file on laptop.
  • Unzip library file to SD card.
  • Put SD card back into Galileo and boot.
  • cd to library directory and run: python setup.py install

cd /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/

python ../pip-1.5.6/setup.py install

Hope that helps,

AllynH

To install these packages - here's what I did:

  • Plug SD card into my laptop.
  • Download library file on laptop.
  • Unzip library file to SD card.
  • Put SD card back into Galileo and boot.
  • cd to library directory and run: python setup.py install

Example:

cd /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/

python ../pip-1.5.6/setup.py install

Re: Hard Disk Shutdown bug which drivers 12.x.x.xxxx in Z77

Hello , I found similar problem on my H77 mb (intel RST  , 1 ssd + 1 hdd , ssd cache on) ,

windows 8.1(without update 1),   uefi boot,  any driver (default 12.0.1 ,12.9 or 13.5 driver  combine efi driver 12.9/13.1/13.5) can shutdown, but none can hibernate to disk

but after upgrade to 8.1 update  (kb3000850) , everything just works (last I tried is 12.9 ,both driver and efi driver ) . I can not tell which upgrade correct this (maybe windows 8.1 update1 ), but maybe you can give it a try.

-All i did was plug it in my pc with both the SATA and power supply cable then booted it and downloaded intel software.

-I didnt encrypt it like i said before just installed it and looked it up

-In the Disk manager when trying to format or open the SSD.

Custom solutions header

I am seeking a method for using the Custom Solutions header GPIO pins as contol outputs to another circuit board.  Is there documentation for accessing these pins through software control?

Hi redruM69

Try with that FVMAIN.fv and after that update the firmware with the IDE. Let me know the outcome of this.

Hi Christopher_Fasano;

I suggest you to open a new discussion with your issue in order to get more appropriate and specific help, also could you tell us which board are you using? Is the mini-breakout board or the Arduino Expansion board?

Re: Should I expect problems with a DC S3500 SSD without AHCI/Trim?

Hello MartinArith,

Answering your questions:

There will be very little impact in terms of performance. These SSDs come with a number of features that enhance the reliability and performance all together. Please understand that without AHCI you will not be able to get any smart detail readings such as the ones found on the Intel® SSD Datacenter Tool.

As for the garbage collection, it will help but does not replace TRIM.

Garbage collection collects used pages into entire used blocks, thus making more space available for immediate writing  and reducing writing amplification. When a file is deleted, the pages of the file are not touched. It is done with the directory entry in the filesystem.

All Intel® SSDs have TRIM and Garbage Collection as standard features. The Intel® SSD DC S3500 and other data center series have additional space so the data can be moved and the impact of not having TRIM is down to a minimum.

Let us know if this helped to answer your questions.

I am on 17.13.11.5 and I still have the problem that my Laptop can not connect to my home-wifi once I had connected to another wifi.

The only option is to forget the home-wifi and re-connect to it again.

This is not a solution.

I have contacted Intel Support, but I am getting only basic questions like "are you using the latest driver". I told them that I am using 17.13.11.5 --> what else shall I say? Since then, silence. I think it is time to contact ASUS and ask them to send me a different WLAN card than the Intel card, as Intel can't solve the issue.

Re: Raid defect? raid bios (RST) not accessible using ctrl-i

Hello kabolz,

Let me help you with this.

When trying to setup a RAID with Intel® Rapid Storage Technology it is necessary to have the chipset mode set as RAID. This is the only way to have the CTRL-I BIOS enabled.

I see you have installed Windows 7 on AHCI mode already so you will need to set the Chipset mode to RAID and reinstall the Operating System.

You can create the RAID volume by pressing CTRL + I keys when booting or you also can use Intel® Rapid Storage Technology to create the RAID volume from the software.

Here you have the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology user guide:

When you install a driver without uninstalling the previous one it will just override the information so you should not worry about possible multiple copies.

My best recommendation is to uninstall the driver completely from device manager and select the option to delete the software as well and then install the driver again.

The latest driver version is 3960 but the first numbers are the driver base line and packages but if you have the driver 3960 you can be sure it is the latest version.

Here you can download it just in case:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24348&lang=eng&ProdId=3720

If you have problems during the installation of the driver, you may try the steps mentioned here:

Kevin:

I forgot to mention that I have tested a 2nd PC on my amp, with an NVidia ti550 video card and it does not have the same problem.  That is how I have traced it back to something on the NUC.

Attached is the info from msinfo on my D54250WYK Nuc.

Thanks for looking into this

Running Premier Pro CC 2014.2

I've been having an absolute nightmare trying to get all the components of my laptop to play nicely together. For some reason Premier Pro won't seem to recognize my Nvidia card and is solely using the Intel 4000, which is preventing any and all video playback within the application. Even when I go into the Nvidia control panel and switch the global and program settings for Premiere to the Nvidia card it only seems to read the Intel 4000. I've spent the last 10 days trying to fix this problem via Adobe forums, Nvidia forums, MSI forums, Windows forums, chat support with Adobe and Windows and it seems the problem lies somewhere between the Intel 4000, Windows 8.1, Premier 2014.2, and the installed Directx version. The Nvidia control panel and the Windows Directx diagnostic tool both show me using Directx version 11.0, but the Intel Graphics control panel shows me using version 11.2, and says that that my Intel hardware only supports up to version 11.1 (pictured below). Why is The Intel CP showing a different version of Directx compared to the Nvidia CP and the windows Directx diagnostic tool? Through 2 days of chat support, Adobe and Windows have both narrowed this down to a problem with the Intel Graphics/Directx version problem. I can't role back the version of Directx and I have the most up to date Intel 4000 driver suggested by my laptop manufacturer (MSI). Adobe disabled my Intel 4000 which allowed me to view video in Premiere Pro 2014 and use the Mercury Playback CUDA from my Nvidia card, but then I wasn't able to use my second monitor which seems to only work with the Intel 4000, which I have to have for color correction. The system was also acting very strange after he disabled the Intel GPU so I've done a complete factory reset and reinstall of Windows 8.1 and the Adobe Software. After that I'm still having the same problem as before but I don't want to use the terrible "disable the Intel" workaround. There are tons of other people in the Adobe and gaming forums all having nearly the same problem with the Intel 4000 not switching over to the Nvidia card. Some are remedied by going back to Windows 8 or 7, some by going back to the earlier version of Premiere Pro, but nobody can seem to figure out the problem using the latest versions of both Windows 8.1 & Premiere Pro 2014.2.

I've included a screen shot of my Nvidia CP, the Directx Diagnostic Tool, and the Intel Graphics CP showing the different versions of Directx.

DirectX Versions.PNG

Not that it makes any difference but I'm a video editor and tomorrow makes 11 days of not being able to work, so ANY help from the Intel Community would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Anthony
