I will semi answer myself...
Today I was able to get a build to complete pretty closely follwing the steps in post 27 of this thread. A few exceptions to it:
step 1) I believe the git package I downloaded did not compile. Needed to edit a header file and remove an #undef of a function that did not exist...
Step 7) The files that you edit in this step did not exist, until i did the first bitbake (step 10)
Step 8) Did not run into the problem of an error here this time.
But after going to step 10, then edit the files in step 7 and rerunning step 10, my build completed without errors. I have not tried this build out yet. I mainly built it to help me be able to search for and understand some things like why the /dev/ttyACM0 object was not created when I plugged in a device (but I found a way in another thread). Also want to look at SPI...
