Re: "add a wireless display" missing in action

Download CenterI see you are running the old driver Version 10.18.10 3316.

The Intel update tool says update is not required, but I bet there is a later driver.

I had lots of trouble with my Sony VAIO FIT15 running that driver version.

The Sony approved intel graphics driver, and the windows update graphics driver will load an old driver which does not work.. Unacceptable @ Sony - Thanks for wasting my time. How hard is it to approve a driver.

You need to manually install the latest intel driver for WiDi to function correctly. That is download the ZIP driver and update through device manager rather than the installer.

Minimum version is 10.18.10.3345. Links    32 Bit Version ZIP     64 Bit Version ZIP

If you insist on using only manufacturer approved drivers, you will just have to wait to get WiDi working.

I also found Windows Update replaced my manually installed driver with the older driver, and I needed to manually install again.

Now it will connect and stay connected. There are still bugs. After disconnecting, sometimes the add wireless display is missing. I then need to go to device settings (PC Settings -> PC and Devices -> Devices) and delete my PTV3000. Then it returns ready to pair again.

Instead of charms, You can also add from PC Settings -> PC and Devices -> Devices -> add device. It should find the WiDi display device, and connect.

Hope this helps break through that wall everybody is bashing their head against.

A bid thankyou to Sony, Intel and Microsoft for the bugs, and the headaches. What would I do with all my free time if it were not for the bugs.
